Eyelash FAQs

Will lash extensions ruin my natural lashes?

No. If applied and cared for properly, you can continue to have extensions applied indefinitely.

I seem to be shedding more than usual. Is this normal?

It depends. If you notice a root on the end of you eyelash, this is a naturally shed lash from your eyelash growthy cycle. Eyelashes have a growth cycle of 6-8 weeks, so we are constantly shedding them, however, now that lash extensions are applied, you notice it more. We humans also go through what's called "the spring shed" meaning every spring around April/May, we naturally lose more lashes than normal.

However, if you are noticing your lash extensions falling out and there is no natural lash attached to them or your lashes hurt, chances are they were not applied properly. Please see your eyelash technician to go over troubleshooting.

Why are my lashes sparse on one eye and not the other?

Chances are, that's the side you sleep on. Sometimes at night when we toss and turn, we are not aware of changing positions in sleep, or rubbing our eyes for that matter.

How long does an appointment take?

A full set of lash extensions, depending on what style you prefer, can take anywhere from 2-3.5 hours. It is done with you lying down in a relaxed setting, with your eyes closed. In fact, many busy moms covet this time as its a time to catch up on much need sleep and a time to just relax!

How long will they last?

Your lashes will last approximately 2-4 weeks depending where your lashes are in their growth cycle.

How often do I need to come in for a refill?

Ideally, to keep them full looking, you should come in for a refill every 3 weeks. Refill appointments are 1 hour to 1.5 hours long. If 50% of your lashes are remaining, it is time for a refill.

Can I wear eye makeup with my lash extensions on?

You can wear non-waterproof eyeliner, but no mascara. Please take care when removing eyeliner and do not use oil based makeup remover.

Can I have a shower/swim after my appointment?

Yes, but please wait about 5 hours after your appointment to do so.

What else can I do to care for my new lashes?

  • avoid heat and humidity for the first 24 hours

  • be sure to clean them twice a day with a gentle cleanser and comb your new lashes

  • do not use an eyelash curler

  • do not go tanning for 24 hours

  • avoid oil based creams around the eye area as it will break down the adhesive

  • be careful around bbqs and opening the doors of hot ovens
